About the Buckaroos – Buck Owens had no name for his early band until in 1963 his bass player Merle Haggard came up with the suggestion “Buck Owens and the Buckaroos”. During the following years the Buckaroos went on to become arguably the most famous country band in the world. Don Rich was the band leader until his death from a motorcycle accident in 1974, but some of the other Buckaroos from the early days still perform.
Today’s Buckaroos include bass player Doyle Curtsinger who joined the Buckaroos in 1969, Jim Shaw, keyboardist (1970), and Terry Christofferson, who plays both guitar and steel guitar (1975). Kim McAbee has been singing with the Buckaoos since 1990 and the drummer Dave Wulfekuehler is the “new kid” who came on board in 2002. Joining the Buckaroos at the Crystal Palace are special guests Chuck Seaton on electric guitar, and Drew Harness, acoustic guitar and vocals.
